Financial Aid

The following types of aid are available individually or in combination to those who qualify and must be applied for annually. Applications are available in the financial aid office.

 

Grants

Federal Pell Grant; Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant; Florida Student Assistant Grant; Bright Futures Scholarship.

 

Scholarships

Richard W. Skidmore Scholarship Fund.

 

Student loans

Direct Loan and Federal Family Education Loan Programs.

 

Alternative Loans

These are special loans available only to those who qualify.

 

Federal Work Study

The Federal Work-Study Program provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need currently attending school.

 

This program allows students to earn money to pay educational expenses. Work-study programs help students fulfill the American tradition of working one's way through school. Pay is based on federal minimum wage standards, but varies with job requirements, skill, and experience levels.

 

When you apply for federal financial aid you can discuss this opportunity with your Financial Aid Officer.

 

  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant: This is a grant that does not have to be repaid and is based on exceptional need.

 

  • Federal Work Study: Money is earned, and it does not have to be repaid.

 

  • Direct Loan and Fedral Family Educational Loan Programs: Subsidized Loans - This is a loan that must be repaid. The USDOE pays interest while the student is in school and during grace and deferment periods.

 

  • PLUS Loan: This is a loan that must be repaid. Available to parents of dependent undergraduate students.

 

  • FSAG: This state grant is available to Florida residents who demonstrate substantial financial need and meet other eligibility criteria. Application deadline is August 1.

 

  • Bright Futures: This is a state of Florida scholarship with three levels: Florida Academic Scholars Award, Florida Merit Scholars Award, and Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award.
