History

The INSTITUTE OF SPECIALIZED TRAINING & MANAGEMENT, INC.
(ISTM) was established in Casselberry, Florida, in December of 1988. The
Institute was organized as a tax exempt not-for-profit corporation organized
under Chapter 617 F.S. and Internal Revenue Code 1969 Section 501(c)(3).
The Institute was originally established to address the need for education and further enhancement of individuals entering the private investigation
field.


In 1989, ISTM was licensed by the State Board of Independent Postsecondary Vocational, Technical, Trade and Business Schools, license No. 1008. In 1991, ISTM received authorization from the State Board of Independent Postsecondary Vocational, Technical, Trade and Business
Schools to offer vocational programs.

In 1992, ISTM was accredited by the
Commission on Occupational Education Institutes (COEI/SACS).


The Board of Directors changed the focus of ISTM from a vocational institution to that of a collegiate level entity by offering Associate's degree programs in 1996. In 1997, the Institute received approval from the State Board of Independent Colleges and Universities to offer Associate of Science/ Applied Science degrees and changed its name to ISTM, Inc. d/b/a City College.

 

In 2000, ISTM d/b/a City College was granted accreditation as a Junior College by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to offer Associate of Science degrees.
